It's lunch time in the Manse and sitting down around our dining room table are youngsters from the Prince's Trust and visitors from Rovigo in Northern Italy. Both parties have collided here but that, after all, is the strength of what happens in Luss. The party of Italians are here to celebrate our fifteen hundredth anniversary -- many of them have been here before and have worked on the glebe pathway, some of them on several occasions. They are quite simply delighted with what they have seen and how well everything has come together. They also see how important has been the part which they have played in making it happen.
The young folk from the Prince's Trust, on the other hand, are here for the first time (apart from their leaders Dean and Kirsty, of course). They have taken on an exciting project which involves creating a new pathway along the banks of the Luss Water on the Glebe. There is a lot of work in that project but it will provide a valuable resource for the hundreds of visitors who walk our pathways each week. It is projects which leave something lasting which are the best projects -- and these young folk from Clydebank College will be able to return to Luss with their families in the future and say 'I did that' and share in the pleasure of achievement which our Italian visitors enjoyed on this visit as well.
We are extremely fortunate in having such a splendid resource -- and many, many young people gain from it each year.
